The forest products industry is Alabama's largest manufacturing industry, producing an estimated $15.6 billion of products in 2005. The state has the second-largest timberland base in the U.S. with nearly 23 million acres. Forest products ranked in the top five among the state's exports in 2006.

  • Lumber and wood products - produced an estimated $5.2 billion worth of products in 2005.
  • Pulp and paper products - produced an estimated $7.9 billion worth of products in 2005.
  • Furniture and fixtures - produced an estimated $2.5 billion worth of products in 2005.
