Aerospace Industry in Alabama


There are more than 280 aerospace companies in Alabama today. These companies do work in space and defense, aviation, and maintenance, refurbishment and overhaul (MRO).

Following are a few fast facts about Alabama’s dynamic aerospace industry:
  • Alabama received over $8.1 billion in Department of Defense Prime Contracts - FY 2010.
  • Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) had a FY 2008 budget of $2.6 billion.
  • MSFC generated more than $1 billion in economic impact for Alabama in FY 2008.
  • Aeropace equipment and parts exports were valued at over $423 million in 2010.
