Message from the President
As the year nears its end, we tend to look back, and based on our accomplishments, mentally grade the time passed. After reviewing this issue of Developments, I'm sure you'll agree that Alabama has earned an "A" for 2004. Our dedicated and skilled workforce, excellent quality of life and business-friendly environment has served the state well as many have repeatedly tipped their hats to Alabama's acheivements. NEW INDUSTRY MAKING HISTORY IN CULLMAN
|
|
In a strategic move to capture a larger share of the Southeast market, Indiana-based North Vernon Industry Corporation (NVIC) found its home in Alabama. Just 30 days after first visiting Cullman, NVIC decided to invest $60 million and build a 350,000-square-foot facility on a 32-acre industrial site, marking the largest start-up company investment in Cullman's economic history.
"Our impressions of the local community college, technical educational programs and the strong public school system all played an important role in determining whether qualified individuals would be avaiable," said company vice president Jack Bodi.
As the first large casting company to enter Cullman's mix of 130-plus industries, Cullman Casting Corporation will feature state of the art pollution control devices and is predicted to be the county's largest power user. It will operate two plants in Cullman: an iron casting manufacturing plant and a finishing plant. This marks the companies first time to expand its operations outside of Indiana.
Site work will begin in January with start-up scheduled for late 2005 with approximately 300 employees.
The company originally contacted EDPA in August and the Partnership provided information and support during the site selection. Whether you are interested in making history or simply getting your business started in Alabama, please contact us at 205-943-4700 or
