ADEM – Alabama Department of Environmental Management

Alabama has the experience and resources in place to facilitate timely and comprehensive environmental permitting for a facility. Because the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) has authority to issue the permits required by all the major federal environmental laws, Alabama can offer “one-stop” permitting. A Permit Coordination and Development Center (PCDC) facilitates the permitting process by coordinating communications, conferences and other administrative functions between an applicant and ADEM.

  • ADEM offers”One-stop” environmental permitting.
  • Permit Coordination and Development Center (PCDC) facilitates the process.
  • Most air and water permits are issued by ADEM within 60 days.
  • Construction storm water permits, which are needed before construction begins, are issued in approximately 45—60 days.
  • ADEM offers a Brownfield Redevelopment and Voluntary Cleanup Program.
