Calhoun County is located sixty miles east of Birmingham, Alabama and ninety miles west of Atlanta, Georgia on Interstate 20 — Near Atlanta, Near Birmingham -Near Perfect. Calhoun County (with an MSA population of 114,000) has more than 150 companies in its industrial base, many with a bent towards metal fabrication. Calhoun County is at the crossroads of the New South automotive corridor within a 100-miles radius of Volkswagen in Chattanooga, Mercedes in Vance, Hyundai in Montgomery, with Kia just outside the 100-mile radius. Honda is located only 20 miles from Anniston in Lincoln. Calhoun County, and its primary cities of Anniston, Oxford, Jacksonville and Piedmont, are a regional source for industrial, commercial, professional, medical, and retail services for northeast Alabama. The County is also the home of Jacksonville State University, a four-year university with an enrollment of over 9,000 students which offers a full range of academic choices, and two world-class museums, the Anniston Museum of Natural History and the Berman Museum.
